March to June 2021 | University of Innsbruck | 2,5 ECTS | course language: English (different language levels are taken into account.)
For master students of all fields of study (including teacher students in Bachelor programme)
How can we deal with global issues in field of education?
What are the SDGs of the UN?
What competencies do we need for a more sustainable future?
This course explores contents, attitudes and methods of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and key competencies of the future theoretically, for personal development and for practice in educational work. Based on interactive learning sessions, scientific literature, self-reflection, theoretical input, group work, conversations with experts and virtual visits of institutions (e.g. Südwind Tirol, SETup, Klimabündnis, Caritas Welthaus) we approach the main topics and learning methods of GCED. A special focus is on the agenda 2030 of the UN, its 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and its significance for educational practice in this new decade. In the course students from Austria and international students work together – learning within a heterogeneous group invites us to change perspectives.
Lecturer: Mag.a Joanna Egger, political scientist, educational worker, lecturer on Global Citizenship Education, SDGs, sustainable development, member of the BiNE network Tyrol, www.social-change.rocks
